Since I now had a free weekend in Rome, I wanted to make the most of it. But it was also a national holiday for Italy, so almost everything in Monteverde was closed as well as a large amount of shops in the center of Rome. This was also the week of Rome's birthday so a lot of museums and tourists sites, like the Colosseum, was free. So I went into the Castel Sant'Angelo for free, which was really cool to see on the inside (but definitely not worth 9 euros to go into!) Originally it was the Mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian and was turn into a castle much later. The best part about the castle was the view of Rome from the top.

On the way to the Villa Borghese, I got one of the most delicious flavors of gelato I have had yet. It was Tartufo (chocolate truffle), cannoli siciliani, and ricotta with almonds. The combo was so good! I'm definitely gonna miss gelati. We also passed this Italian man talking on his cell phone, holding a leash that led to a plaster dog, that was molded in the form of a dog peeing. It was the weirdest thing ever.

There was a nice overlook of Piazza del Popolo on the way to Villa Borghese that I stopped to take some pictures of. When we first get to the park, since this is Al's first time to Villa Borghese, he wanted to rent a bike so we could see all the park. But instead of getting a bike, we saw these cool four-wheeler bike cart things that could seat up to three people (which was perfect cause it was Al, Jordan, and I) so we decided to rent that out for an hour instead. Turns out these bikes are impossible to pedal if there is a small incline. As we were struggling up a hill right after getting the bike, we pass this Italian family of four who is beating us. (They had a motorized bike.) The little girl in the bike turns around and laughs at us, waving and saying "Ciao! Ciao!" to which the dad looks back and starts laughing. Kinda funny I guess. But then the girl keeps looking back and saying Ciao and the dad keeps laughing so it started to make us mad. Finally Jordan flips out and waves his hands all over shouting "BYEEE!!" and angrily steers the opposite way on the road which ended up being all downhill. So we flew through the park barely pedaling. It was nice. But after that I think we were at one of the lowest points of the park so everything after that was either flat or uphill. So we would take turns pushing this thing from behind while people pedal, or one person would pedal and other people would walk along side it. What a mess! Our legs were so tired we wanted to hand it in as soon as possible even if the time wasn't up. But we took a few wrong turns along the way and ended up riding it for an hour even though we didnt want to.

After that, we did work in the park, which also has wifi spots which is cool, but I only did readings anyway. Of course there was Italian teenagers making out everywhere but there was this really cute Italian baby boy who was wandering over to this group of teenagers having a picnic and watching them eat cheese balls. So then they hand the bag to the boy and he grabs one

and slowly tries it out. Then he doesn't leave the bag and shoves them in his mouth one after another barely finishing the first one. It was so cute!

That night I ate at the Sardinian Trattoria right next to my apartment and got my favorite dishes, penne al salmone and torta di ricotta. There was this old couple there that talked to us the last time we ate there. I'm not sure if they remembered us but they were upset because their pizza was taking too long to come. Its funny to watch Italians upset over food...
