Humbled

I would like to update you on what is taking place. Green open fields, bright-blue hazel sky, rice field’s rice field’s rice fields. Doctor visit for Russ, almost tore his knee muscle completely apart. We think it happened when he was riding on the left side of the highway (cheers to the English), pushing himself to get a mile in before an oncoming car came. We have slept under the most brilliant night skies where the Milky Way is shouting beauty into our eyes, managed some Arkansas winds, and have had some brief encounters with coyotes during the night. I feel closer to a ‘higher being’ when I am out here with nature. I never would have thought that flat plains would be so epic. There have been many who I have met on this trip who I would like to acknowledge:

Wood Newton: Positive, productive and insightful. I began one day with a flat tire, no extra tubes, no patches, no glue. So I walk tire and rim in hand back East towards Nashville. “All good things come to those who wait” I say to myself. With no hesitation and a gallon of hope I manage to walk about 5 or 6 miles before someone dared to take on this lonely hitchhiker (me). When the 7 P’s (prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance) are not executed to the absolute (my situation) I rely on the 4 substitutes. (Patience, persistence, positively, and the percentage of good luck) which in my case, paid off when Wood took the time out of his day to help someone out.
Fate has a way of throwing us into some gloomy situations and with the right perspective grace has a way of bringing us out on top where the outcome is far better than what we started with. I owe many thanks to you, Wood. Your patience has put me into a very humbled state of mind. I am a strong believer in Karma and I will hold this value true when I see someone in need. The world is a far better place when we act in selflessness and sincerity. The last week has been the most memorable time of my 22nd year on earth. Up’s and down’s inevitably occur throughout life; it is our perspective which binds us to our self-identifying-definition of what makes us who we are as persons. Cheers to Gloria’s sausage-cheese-stuffed pasta. Cheers to the live acoustic from Wood and the albums to my ipod, and cheers to the most memorable conversation and well spent beers with Wood. You will not be forgotten. I am off to meet another soon-to-be very memorable person, Keith in Littlerock.

I truly believe that the world is full of kindness. I am humbled.
