Today I woke up early to go with Al to the flea market (or open-air markets, as they refer to them.) It was amazing how much stuff they had at the market. They had old coins, whose authenticity looked a little sketchy, clothes, boots, electronics, kitchen supplies, and even animals like birds and little turtles. Since there was so many people packed together, I always had to be mindful of my purse. We walked around for about three hours, but I only got one thing-lotion. It was overwhelming but fun. There was this statue from the Dali artwork that I really liked. It was the melted clock hanging over the branch. I asked how much it was—60 euros. He proceeded to tell me it was a very nice piece from a Dali painting, which I knew, and asked if I was a student. He then said something I couldn’t quite catch because he was speaking too fast for me to translate. So since I paused, he asked if I was Italian. I said no, I was American. He was like Oh, and then started to speak in English to me. He said that he wanted to make the sale and since I was a student, would give me a bargain. After continuing to push it, I told him in Italian that I needed to think about, and he left me alone. It was a pretty nice statue though. Al and I continued to make our way through the market. The stands were never ending and it took us almost three and a half hours to go through it and back. Somehow we came out a different way though at the end. We walked around a bit to find out where we were. We knew we had to walk up also. When we reached the end of the road we were on, we saw this huge set of 125 stairs! They went almost straight up and did not have any railings or anything. After climbing up them, I had to take a picture of the view from the top. No wonder why Italians are so skinny. Walking on, we saw a building that had an interesting structure so we took some photos of it. When I got back to my apartment, my roomies and I cleaned it, since that is what we do on Sundays. So that was exciting! There are no more dust balls in the corner of the room. The apartment was definitely not cleaned for us before we moved in, to say the least.

More Pets
Dad would love going shopping there, look we got boots, over here some electronics, oh yes we need another bird and I'll take a turtle, make that two! By the time we walk back to the hotel they would die. With all the walking you are doing it's no wonder why your heels are killing you. When I get there I'm going to panic when you invite us out for a short stroll around.

nice
I think it's great that you are using Italian more and more. I am proud of you that you're not just taking the easy way out and speaking English. <3
