It's another slow day in Nazca. Last night, I met Maddie; an exchange student from the US studying in Buenos Aires. I'm seeing Arpit and Maddie off today as they are both going to Lima on the same bus.

Oh my god! I actually meet three Canadians from Toronto (I won't hold that against them). They just arrived from Cusco. The first Canadians I have met on this trip. For a while there I thought that Canadians just didn't travel. It's nice to see some.

Maddie, Arpit and I head to the market as Maddie wants to pick up some fruit before they leave. On the way, we stop to buy some cactus fruit. Maddie tells us we can eat the seeds but Arpit and I are not so sure. We do it anyway as Maddie has been in South America longer and she is still alive.

We pay for the fruit, but end up giving Maddie more money than she needs. Arpit gives her 1 soles and I give her 5 soles. She gives me 2 soles back as she thinks each fruit cost 3 soles. Each fruit actually costs 1 soles. Maddie gives me 4 soles back. I tell her that she gave me too much back, so, she takes 2 soles and gives 1 soles to Arpit. Arpit and I are a little confused. Maddie's math is really bad. It's no wonder she's broke. Maddie picks up more fruit and we head back to the hostel.

After a short pit stop, we go to the bus station and I see them both off...story of my life. Arpit makes a comment that it's nice to have someone see him off. It's too bad no one will be seeing me off 😞.

The rest of the day is not very eventful and I spend most of my time transferring my journal to soft format on my laptop. I bid the owners of the hostel farewell and head down to the bus depot. My bus is late, but the wait isn't terrible as I watch the Fast and the Furious on TV. It's funny when the actors speak Spanish in the movie. The subtitles just say: ...Speaking Spanish... without actually translating the words. The bus finally arrives at 9 pm and I'm trying to mentally prepare for my 14 hour bus ride. I hope I can sleep. This is the first overnight bus I'm catching and it may not be my last.

I'm in second class which sucks as I was trying to get a first class ticket but it was all sold out. I find my seat and notice that the guy next to me is taking up a lot of space. WTF? He's about the same size as me. how can he be spilling into my seat? Bastard! Wish i knew more Spanish. Note to self: learn to swear in Spanish.

I get dinner with tea. The tea tastes a little strange. I'm thinking it's coca tea. I hope I don't get high. I lie down after dinner and fall asleep immediately.

Hmmm
TMI on the math buddy. It gave me a headache! LOL Also, if I were you I would not curse a Hispanic man out, unless of course you don't mind getting your butt kicked. :) Be safe, and don't go starting any fights! You're a lover, not a fighter dear!;)
