So we left our pretty scary bus journey behind and found ourselves being transported on a wooden long boat across to Thailand. Then off we went to Chiang Mai... Before we went to the Elelphant Nature Park we had a few days to explore, shop and eat, we REALLY made the most of it! Chiang Mai was beautiful, chilled and friendly, we visited a number of markets, a selection of massage places (including one on the road) and a variety of 'Wats' during the Sunday night market for food...
Well fed we then left for the elephant park and on our return hopped on a night train to Bangkok.
On arrival in Bangkok we caught a local bus to Kanchanaburi on a pilgramidge to see the bridge over the River Kwai. We visited the Burmese/Thai railway museum, the cemetary and the JEATH museum, we learnt alot about the construction of the railway and the horrific conditions that the POW's and other workers (tried to) live in.
Another form of night transport, this time a bus with a very very bad bootlegged version of James Bond (was there supposed to be a big head in the
way?!), found us staying in a bungalow on the beach near to Krabi. We met with a few friends from the Elephant Park and planned our next steps into Malaysia. It also rained...alot!
Hat Yai was the next stop and we found ourselves in a very disturbing hostel, Lucy worryingly described the accomodation like the hostel from the film 'Hostel', with added ants and worms in the bathroom!
Then, suddenly it was time for Malaysia! We loved Thailand and wished we could have stayed for longer, Lucy is already getting withdrawal symptoms from green curry!
