Bothan Taistil 1st ferry ride
The ride was very short to the town of Mayport home of the US Navy January 13, 2005, Thursday. We drove a “Bob road” all day, the
Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway A1A this follows the coastline, for the most part. In St. Augustine, we looked for the Fountain of Youth, but alas no luck. It was a warm beautiful day as we drove along the beaches and observed obvious hurricane damage. The day ended in Titusville just outside Canaveral. The campground had a wireless connection to the internet, this was a great find. When traveling one can just sit at a picnic table and connect!
January 14, 2005, Friday. Being this close to Kennedy Space Center (KSC) we thought we would take a visit. Our impressions were probably based on several factors: 1.) Neither of us is a follower of space travel; 2.) A weather front came through and dumped lots of rain all day, and; 3.) The price was not cheap. In all fairness, it was interesting, but very commercial. Well, “Been there, done that.”
Off we go to my brother, Jim’s place I
Vero Beach . It was great to see Jim and Jean and we had a wonderful visit, although the weather did not cooperate. After a delicious meal we relaxed in the hot tub.
January 15,
Florida Highway A1A
We followed this highway as much as possible this is a real Bob road in fact it is a scenic 2005, Saturday. A rainy day in Florida proved to be too choppy to go out in the boat, so we drove around to see the sights and the art center. We went out for dinner and then to a show, “Beehive”. A musical on a 60 theme We got home in time to see the Steeler play-of game.
January 16, 2005, Sunday. After breakfast out, we made Mass and again the rains came. Football games were on the agenda for the afternoon. And more of the hot tub. Vero Breach is a great place Maureen found time to buy a bathing suit
January 17, 2005, Monday. We left Vero and headed to Ft. St. Lucie. Bob aunt is 79 and not in the best of health. Bob had the opportunity to catch up with his mother’s sister, Aunt June and her husband Dick, and we all went out to celebrate their 54th anniversary! We spent the night in West Palm Beach.
January 18, 2005, Tuesday. Well we are now in Ft. Lauderdale, at a county park campground, Easterlin. We walk along the Ft. Lauderdale beach on A1A. The weather is sunny but windy and cool, however after
calling Pittsburgh and hearing about a wind chill factor of -15 degrees we won’t complain.
