Today is my third day in Gothenburg and I am still doing my best to get on the right time schedule. The first day here was tough staying up, playing in a game and then actually getting out of bed because I was tired. Last night, I couldn't sleep for the life of me. I went to bed at 1 am and saw the clock turn itself to 7 am. Not very fun, but one of the struggles I have while overseas. Today, after 10 am, practice, I came home and have been doing my best no to sleep all day in an attempt to be tired for tonight. Luckily, I only took an hour nap and now I am fighting to keep my eyes open till at least 10 or 11 pm. Hopefully if I get through today I will get on Sweden time.

Practice this morning was one of the most entertaining, funny experiences I have ever had. We met at the gym at 10 am and started practice at 10:30 am. The first hour and a half was a normal practice that consisted of half court drills, 5 on 5 and a few scrimmages. Besides getting nailed in the thigh and having a huge dead leg, it went great. The hilarious part of practice came next. At around 12ish coach called practice and told us it was time for strength training. Being from America, I thought that meant we would head up to the weight room and lift some weights. Little did I know, this Swedish coach (who by the way is a great guy and a nice coach) has a way different idea of "strength training."

Coach Jonas split us into groups of two and had ten stations for us. We were required to go barefoot and lay down mats all over the gym floor. The reason for this was because we were using our partner as the weight. Yep, bicep curls with your partner in your arms, squats with your partner kuala hugging you and hanging onto your back, as well as lunges with a teammate draped over your shoulder. Other stations consisted of wrestling, carrying your partner up and down the basketball court, jump and jacks in and out of your teammates legs as he is doing scissor kicks, up downs with your partner hanging from your back and hugging your neck and

best of all, lower back strength drills with your partner hanging off your shoulders backwards/upside down.

All the guys were dying laughing the entire time because it really looked like a bunch of 25 year old gay men holding, touching, and grabbing one another. It was hard to take it serious but coach stayed on us and required us all to treat it as a hardcore weight session. Although I wouldn't recommend this to others, I am extremely sore and got one of the best leg workouts I have in a long time. It was probably a lot more funny in person as opposed to in the blog, but its something I will remember forever and wanted to write about!

After practice I walked around the small suburb of Gothenburg that I am currently staying in called Molndals. It is a homey, small town that seems to be centered around a town square that has a few banks, two grocery stores, a big church and many other little boutiques.
