...doesn't look so promising from the air. Dry, and very hot.

After landing at the airport (I only slept for about 45 minutes all night), we drove to the town of Madaba. Here we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at a mostly empty restaurant. During Ramadan, Muslims do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. Imagine a day of 104 degrees, and you can't even have a sip of water!

We then traveled to Mount Nebo. I stood in the very spot where Moses looked across the Jordan River into the Promised Land before he died. The city of Jericho is visible straight ahead, and the Dead Sea is off to the left.

Great Entries
Very engrossing entries. Hopefully you'll continue to have access to the internet. This will be a good diary later as well. I wonder how long they'll keep your site up. Yes, it's Ramadan, how many Muslim countries will you visit besides Jordan?

This entry gave me chills! To stand where Moses had stood is a phenomenal experience. Never thought about the reality of visiting these places for myself, but from your few comments, it may be considered. Interested in hearing what you had for lunch.

Lunch
Lunch in Jordan on Thursday was fantastic! They brought out so many types of salad, hummus, and vegetables, we thought that was the meal! The main courses were lamb and chicken. I liked everything, including the falafel, hummus, and pita, which I never liked at home. Authentic food makes all the difference.

Moses!!
That is AMAZING! That would be the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life...being in a place where my favorite bible personality, Moses, stood. How did you feel while there at this spot?
