After spending all morning trying our best to get over jet-lag, we made our way to the English meeting in B.A. Only about 50 publishers, with the speaker coming from Dallas, TX. We met a kiwi who was on the same flight as us too, how’s that? They have visitors from everywhere all the time. It was good to understand what’s going on and to participate. You really appreciate how hard it is for the local bro who does the WT in English but you can see would prefer to speak in Spanish, for us guys who are too lazy to learn the lingo.

It is fun, though, to struggle with the lingo with people at the markets, in the taxi or anywhere for that matter. I took Callum to the bus depot to book our trip to Iguazu Falls, but had to leave empty handed because of the barrier. I forgot the translator…what a goose. On the way back I was tempted to try a Chorizo hotdog from the side of the road, and I have to say it was fantastic. And I haven’t died yet. At the markets the was another stand with ‘Chorizo-colora’ for 5
pesos. How could I resist. No-one else was game, but they both took a bite and enjoyed. And we’re still kicking. Callum had his portrait drawn there, with people watching on and I bet the artist hadn’t pulled out his yellow pencil to colour hair in for a long time. Everyone here loves his golden locks. Looking at him as we pass…he loves it. We get a reality check though walking back to the hotel, with so many paupers begging. Cripples, old people, but the worst is seeing kids being made to sit and beg by themselves so there’s more sympathy. Even a baby younger than 2!!!! (see pics) When we took a photo to reminder us how terrible it is, his mum came over and got him to start performing like a seal. Horrible...
We went out for lunch. The mixed grill for 2 would be enough for 4 back home easily. They love their beef, a good restaurant here is ‘Follow the Cow’. Then Marianne and Callum stayed home while I went to the FOOTBALL! Boca Juniors vs. Independiente. 2 massive rivals teams, it’s what they call a ‘Classic Game’ and virtually impossible to get tickets to. But I went nonetheless. I was told about the security, but still was surprised. They cordon off 2 blocks around the stadium an hour before the game. I went to the back of the line and asked if anyone spoke English, one did a little and told me I have no chance to get a ticket. Only members here. In fact, there are more members tickets than there are seats in the stadium! Scalpers! I was warned not to, but for me, this is a one in life time moment… They wanted Ar$70 for a $24 ticket. I stashed money in a few different pockets, so I pulled my wallet out and showed I only had $42 to my name. After about 20-30 minutes they gave in, selling me one. I was sweating at the turnstile, but it was good. Got in no worries. I met some Poms later, and they paid $90 each! Ha, Poms… What an atmosphere. Nothing like it in Australia. Can hardly describe it, the photos and video don’t give it any justice either. The only way is to come and go to a game. DO IT! I’m still abuzz, and will be for a while.
That night we met up with some from the congregation for dinner at the mall. We met them at the Kingdom Hall at 8.30, That's when it starts here, and finished at midnight. Food was the same as you'd expect from any mall, but the company was great. They love Callum. They all wanted to kiss him, but he stood fast and just put out his hand. I held him down so they could kiss him, but he later admitted that he liked the chase more than anything.

We had plans to go to the Zoo, so we took the bus there. They're cheap and run all the time everywhere. But the zoo was closed!!! No idea why, peddlers outside said it'd be open tomorrow. So we looked at the Botanical Gardens - not much there, almost as many statues as trees. They love their monuments here. Lazy day other than that. A sister (Gabrielle) picked us up and we bused it to another sisters' (Eva) for dinner and traditional Mate, tea basically. Strong stuff. Nice, but strong. Home again at midnight.
Tue 16th
Checking out and taking bus to Iguazu Falls tonight. So we've got time to go to the zoo today. Don't know when I'll get to the net again, hence the big write up. (plus the big nights...) 16 hour bus trip apparently... So you'll get the low down on that soon.
Next stop, after the Falls, Ascuncion, Paraguay; then slowly through the back country back to BA for our flight to Bariloche......SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
