Kitschy Kuching Kitties
Say that 10 times fast. We're in Kuching, not Ka-ching!, in Malaysian Borneo. Kuching means cat in Malay and they have taken the theme and run with it. There are several cat sculptures around town, a super silly cat museum, and a cat is even on their manhole covers. Let's hope that it's not because cat is the local delicacy. ;-)
BTW, we have only seen one cat in all of Malaysia with a full size tail. We wondered if people bobbed their cats' tails
or if it was genetic. The other day we saw a kitten with a short tail and the fur on the end was all weird so we know that it's genetic. Whew!
The men of a tribe here in Borneo VOLUNTARILY do more to their junk than just wear rubber bands. Men, you may want to cross your legs before you read this. In the museum there was a, aw gaw, a... penis flattener. They use this device to then shove a short metal or bone rod through the base of their penis at a perpendicular angle, parallel to the ground so that it resembles a rhino's penis. And I can't imagine that it's "for her pleasure" either! Serawak River sunset
A bartender we met thinks that this parliament house on the right which is under construction looks like a juicer. Toby thinks the clouds look like a dragon. Check it out, I think he's onto something.
We spent a couple of days at Bako National park which is full of monkeys. If sweating releases toxins from your body, we should have been toxin free after day 2. We drank some Tiger lagers so that our bodies wouldn't go into shock. 😊 BTW, Tiger is brewed in Singapore. Should have guessed those wily capitalists would find a way to generate money providing a verboten product to their majority Muslim neighbors. And the good news is that there is much less of a Muslim influence in Borneo so there are lots more bars around. Yay!
P.S. Clarification. My post about the less than hygienic breakfast we had in KL is not representative of all restaurants there. They've got California Pizza Kitchens, Chili's (we stopped in for some Presidente margaritas in the blue shakers,) and plenty of other clean and international restaurants. I just wrote about that breakfast because most Westerners have not experienced anything like it and we thought it was funny. Yeah, we're twisted.
