Arrived in Ilha Grande after a 2 hour bus trip and 1hr 30min ferry. Yes, ANOTHER paradise island. I'm sorry, but "when in Paris" as they say. Our hostel was right on the beach just out of the town. There were no roads and the little town was very relaxed and reminded me of a sort of Jamaicanesque village. We went to a beach called Lopez Mendez. It is regarded as one of the finest beaches in the whole world and it lived up to it's reputation. 3km long as it sweeps round and dense jungle and mountians behind and huge surf waves, but it was the sand that was really amazing. It was so fine that it squeaked when you walked on it. It was as fine as flour. Anyway my wound had healed so I could finally swim, yipeeee!!!! But a major set back; I decided to try and overcompensate for the fact that I hadn't been able to swim by swimming for over 3 hours without suntan lotion! Doh! I thought that I couldn't burn in the cool water. I have now learnt that is not true! I was in serious pain for days and therefore couldn't swim again or sunbathe, plus I got sunstroke later that evening. My shoulders, and back were the worst affected so carrying a 20kg backpack when we left was pretty painful. Culturally not a lot to see so I won't bore you for any longer, but apart from the sunburn and sunstoke we had a great time. Meeting sooooo many brilliant people and drinking alot of Cachaca; the local tipple (it gets you smashed very quickly and gives you a lovely hangover to deal with the next day! Off to Rio de Janeiro!!!!

I'm not your parent but
bloody hell Dave, that's just typical of you. Sunstroke I mean. What did I tell you about not taking the batman suit off. Not only are you burned but now everyone knows his weakness, factor nil. lol, Sounds amazing though mate. Particularly as we seem to be having a weather crisis at home.
