Rotorua

The town smells like rotton eggs.....which isn't a problem if you're into that kind of thing. You do get used to it though. Having dropped our gear off at our b&b (coincidentally the oldest heritage listed building in the city) we went for our tour of "Hells Gate" and mud spa. The town itself is not much to look at, but we weren't fooled....there are loads to do in the nearby surrounds. Jean displayed he-man like courage during the bungee swoop and we were both humiliated when turning up to our "zorb" activity in speedos and a bikini (everyone else was fully dressed!). BUT you live and learn....moving swiftly forwards. • Highlights: geothermal mud & sulphur spa at wai-ora spa - even though it did leave us smelling of rotton eggs for a while afterwards; the bungy swoop - a terrifying drop that has you swinging headfirst at 130km/h towards the ground; ZORBING! we were puzzled as to how this could be fun until we tried it. and even though we looked odd wearing our swimmers whilst it was 10 degrees outside, the water inside was a pleasant 33 degrees.• Accommodation rating: 5/5. Upgraded to the "honeymoon" suite! We were quite chuffed and it is an amazingly beautiful home. Jean was smiling from ear-to-ear having spotted the clawfoot bath, and paul was exceptionally pleased at the ginormous shower.• Food: This is the best place we've eaten at so far. Was recommended to try the "Fat Dog" Bar and Cafe and we haven't eaten anywhere else since! From their mouthwatering nachos to their infamous "doggie wrap" dessert, we were shocked to see our weight reading when standing on the scales at the zorb.• Misc: Paul has not stopped ridiculing jean for wanting to go on a lord of the rings tour. For all those who plan on visiting rotorua in the near future, 5 words - Fat Dog "Doggie Wrap" dessert. you'd be a fool to miss it! and we pity the fool!!

You losers!
Hahahaha! That is so funny about you guys rocking up in your swimmers! Oh, I wish I could have been one of the other, fully dressed people.
