My Voyage Across Spain

Barcelona to Granada: in 42,574 easy steps!

...or rather 'foot', as I'm still hobbling around on one and a half legs. I'm chilling here in Granada til the 15th, when I fly out (no longer from Barcelona, as I couldn't afford the bus ticket back! A FLIGHT to the UK was cheaper!! Thanks Dad! 😊

Thierry and Guillaume, my Français-speaking friends from Edinburgh came to visit me the other day on their way home. It was so good to see familiar faces after trekking to what at first seemed like the edge of the Earth! We hung out for the day and I limped around with them drinking cervecas and eating tapas for most of the arvo.

In the end we went up to the viewpoint and sat around while the sun went down over Alhambra castle - agreeing that it was a nice change from seeing the sun go down over Edinburgh castle! 😊 The view was incredible with an interesting contrast in landscape. To the left of the ancient Moroccan-style fort were distant snowy mountains and to the right there were bloody palm trees! Granada is supposed to have the 'Best skiing in Spain!' so I've heard. (Apparently there is skiing in Morocco as well! Near Fes!! Skiing in Africa!!? Whaaa?!)

So yeah, it's kind of good that I have a bung leg, as I am forced to chill and can't go running around like the ADD maniac I usually am. I do a bit of gimpish walking around during the day and spend most of the arvo basking in the sun up on the roof and studying Spanish.
