Day 3 of the Arusha Summer Safari For Souls Campagin 2008

As the week is winding down, with just 3 days left of this year’s Safari for souls Campaigns I know that, if you have been following along at all or have ever been here yourself you know the routine… But with each new day there comes a new set of stories to share!

Today was Day 3 here in Arusha, our third day working our way down one long muddy road in Arusha in the dew and drizzle this morning the roads were bad and the mud was thick… a little at a time, today with just one quick step from the truck we were one man down (or lady down I should say) as Lesley slipped in the mud just after getting out of the truck. Brent took her back to the school as Jolee and I went out with our group of 4 fellow Tanzanian brethren. We inched our way down the road from that point on and boy was it ever slick! I almost lost it a few times myself! The Flip flops were not the best choice for this particular damp and rainy day… But I should have known that!

Moving slowly however did not stop the spread of the gospel in any way shape or form! Actually we ended up having more time to visit and talk in depth with people we came across because they weren’t in any hurry to get anywhere either! While going door to door and handing out tracks I was asked three times today by Tanzanians if they could wash my feet for me… and at one point it got so bad I finally took them up on it… just rinsing off under a fountain outside one woman’s home. It was caked several inches thick at that point and I could just feel myself growing taller!

We set up several studies and had one really good long study (about 3 hours) with a woman named Teresia and her niece, and then 2 ladies who stayed in her home that were older and bed ridden, listening in laying in their beds in the room next to us that we didnt een know about until after the study… She was truly listening with her heart and was pricked to the bone with every word we read to her. That study took up the majority of the morning, but was worth the whole day! The desire was there to want to be sincerely pleasing to God in everyway!

There were 5 people added to the Lord’s Church throughout the day in Arusha and 1 more in Mosquito River that I was told about, and many great studies held as well! We will return to the same areas again tomorrow and have a second study there in Teresia’s home, as she was very interested in learning the truth. It’s been a very exciting and busy week! I know that everyone is getting a little tired, but God continues to bless the efforts being put forth!

Thank you to the Samfords, who put together a great meal for the group tonight… it makes it so nice to come back to a warm bowl of soup after a long cold muddy day.

I heard that the group traveling out to Mtu wa Mbu actually had an elephant wander up to where they were meeting near the road and then on the way out of town they came across the whole herd of them, just beyond the edge of

the city. A little excitement in a big way! But they have also had a great week and Chuck has been doing a great job preaching the outdoor meeting! Tomorrow Ken Upchurch will take over and preach the last 3 days there. They are also holding the Children’s seminar at the same time. So many good things going on across the board here in Northern Tanzania!

Brittany shared a cute story with me tonight about a sweet older man we all refer to as "Smiley" he's actually Cy & Stephanie's guard and goes by the name Lenjema, but today he told the girls just to call him "Mr. A" a little curious I guess the girls had to ask what that stood for... so a littler slower and a little louder he told them, "It's M-R-A" and just spelled it out for them again slowly, as if they didnt get it the first time... laughing and giggling not really understanding each other, they still dont know what the "A" stands for... But that's the language barrier at its best... very typical. (slower and louder is supposed to clear everything up.. haha)

We’re losing a few workers in tomorrow

just after our Bible Study together today
evening the Hoover group is departing as well as Fred & Penny Cabler who have been with us here through the thick and thin of it all for both the Moshi and Arusha seminars and then the Mtu Campaign this week! So be praying for their safe departures and smooth arrival back home to their loved ones in the states. I believe the Wisemans leave on Saturday and then the KW group and Callie all head out Monday night…. So we’re lingering on the end a great Summer Campaign, but it’s not over yet!

Hope you’ve had another amazing day!
Lord willing, we’ll all be at it again tomorrow!

In His Service,
The Richardson family
