WA Coast
North Fremantle Well... it's been awhile. I suppose I was holding off because I wasn't really in the greatest of spirits this past week.
To make a long story short, and to prevent you all from thinking I am having a shotty time... I will just say that Perth, WA is nothing that I expected. It is a huge city, although I live just outside, I can hear the freeway from my house. There isn't much wildlife, and I think I just set my expectations too high. I also don't think the five short days I got to spend home (unpacking and re-packing from the move) were enough. I didn't really get to settle down before I left again and I think that's killed me mentally.
Ok... on to other things.
This week has been kind of bland. I have really just been working on a bunch of research for my papers and trying to organize the projects I have to do for Mark while I am here. I think that making instructional taping videos will be fun. The injury manuals...not so much, but it's definitely something I feel comfortable with. I just feel swamped with computer work. I am
always typing papers, writing journals, researching and just staring at the computer. It sucks. BUT... on Tuesdays and Thursdays I get to go into lab and be around people, which has been the highlight of my weeks.
Tuesday Mark drove me into Perth, the actual down town part of it. I thought where I am is city... that was comparative to New York city, or even Tokyo (I hear). Ridiculous. It was in the evening so I think I'll probably head down there one day on a weekend and check it out in the day light and spend some times looking on the shops and what not.
Mark and I did "Jacob's Ladder". It's this insane set of stairs that a lot of people use to work out. It winds all around and is pretty steep. I think if I had tennis shoes on I would have tried to see if I could make it alive. It was tough just walking for me, and I consider myself pretty fit.
The rest of the week was nothing spectacular to mention, really. Today I went in (which is unusual for a friday) to go on a sort of community
service trip with the 5th year Chiropractic students. The trip wasn't so fun as the outcome- I finally have plans to go out tomorrow! I was about to get sent to the nut house if I spent one more weekend night in the house. I'm a social person and it killed me to sit home.
I'm meetin' a couple girls in downtown Perth to go out for one of their boyfriends birthdays. I am excited. Speaking of going out, there's a tavern right on the Uni's campus. I went down there tonight to meet a guy that I'm kind of working on the taping video with (I say kinda because basically I am making it as a project for Mark, and this guy is taking and selling it). I didn't see him when I got there, but I recognized one of my students that I decided I would have a drink with until the other fella showed up. I went to order a drink and was told my international student ID wouldn't be enough, I needed my passport. Well, I don't carry that around, so I was told I can't even be IN the tavern without it. Later on
Gorgeous
Sunset over the ocean Su told me that's a buncha bologna and said I should report it... but whatever. THe girls told me I would need it tomorrow. I just need to be careful and NOT lose it.
Tomorrow morning I was going to go to a market that sold super cheap china and crystal kitchen ware, but the time changed for me to arrive at the Footy game. I guess the Physio for the team I am helping out (I'm still unsure what level it is going to be) wants me to help tape the guys before the game. That's pretty exciting I think. It'll give me something to do tomorrow. Then I'll come home and get ready to head out with the girls I met today. I really hope it goes well and the people I meet continue to be friendly. It makes life so much easier.
There was a party tonight I was invited to, but I was banking on being at the Tavern. But, the weather's pretty obnoxious out there, so I'm actually OK with being home right now. I'm exhausted and my neck and feet are killing me too... I had to dress up and walking for
an hour one way in heels takes a huge toll on your feet.
Anyway. I think that's all I have to update right now.
Week two is complete.
I only have six more.
I was thinking of doing a seven day tour along the coast. It's $700. That's a lot of money. But it's gonna take me through to see things that I actually want to see and it goes along the coast and I'll see animals and bush and not so city-like parts of WA. I'm thinking about it. Seriously thinking about it. Because aside from the train rides and the occasional purchase of drinks and trail mix, I really am not spending money. And if I get to see something that I want to see finally... it'll be worth it right? I'm going to see if it's something I can do maybe the last week I am here and make up the hours prior or something. There are a few shorter ones... so I'll see what I can handle budget wise and work wise and hopefully I'll go on one of the trips (http://easyridertours.com.au/tours/exmouth-exposure <-- that's the website if you guys wanna give me any suggestions..
especially if you've been here)
Alright.
Night U.S. I miss you.

Hang in there
Hey Meg, I know sometimes it must feel lonely, but we all think about you every day and we will be here when you get home ready to give you hugs and kisses. For now please focus on the job you went to do. If you think about what you thought it might be you may miss how wonderful it is. Your pictures are great and I love seeing them.
