Tokopa Falls Hike
Snow was still on the trail. This morning we hiked to Tokopah Falls (about 4 miles). It was sunny and not to cool. A beautiful morning. The trail started up from the campground so we didn’t even have to move CT. The Kaweah River goes through the campground and fed by the falls. The river was roaring. It was a leisurely hike for us. We saw few people (until the return trip) and just enjoyed the forest and the river. You could see the snow on the opposite bank and on the granite cliffs. There are no Sequoia trees in this part of the park. The birds were singing and the air was fragrant with the scent of the different pines and cedar trees. There was still snow on some parts of the trail (not a problem) and little snowmelt streams we had to ford. The waterfall was very full. We talked to a couple from LA who come to the park every year and they said it was the most water in the falls they had ever seen. The snows were good in the state this year and the weather has warmed up faster than usual. This waterfall is fed by snowmelt.
In the afternoon we
took another hike, just to be in the woods and around the big trees again. I even saw a few westerm dogwood trees. It was a very relaxing day.

Aren't those trees ENORMOUS?! It's hard to really get the idea about how big those really are until you're actually in front of one!!!
