This is Jayson Smith shooting Dave's Run. The stick is attached to some flagging, if you look closely you can see it suspended in the air.

This is one of the Back Chutes; Hole in the Wall. Mammoth has an Open Boundary policy which is nice because you can ski this series of chutes down to the tamarack nordic ski area and take a bus from there every hour on the hour back to the ski resort.

Snow Pit

Backcountry skiing in the North Lake area. 9ft. pit...pretty good stability but with a reuschblock a layer broke 2ft. down. So we took it really easy and skied mostly low angle glades.

Avy Scenario

One quiet day, a moch-avalanche disaster was transmitted over the radio, I responded and helped to dig out two deep burials which ended up to be carhart jumpsuits stuffed with foam. This photo is a debrief of that avy scenario We've been doing a lot of training on the slow days, most of them are avalanche scenarios but some are rope rescue and steep toboggan training.
