Another whirlwind stopover. Spent the night in a Christian hostel with the Boys and Girls Club of Poland... theres a first. I involentarily got to attend their meeting as well. They took over the lounge in the middle of my dinner. Didn't understand much of it but they had cool pictures. They also had a sing along in Polish. I laughed at how unbelievable this trip has been. Amsterdam was beautiful. I really didn't get to see much of it at all. Saw Anne Frank's house from outside. The end of October and there was still an hour line. I went into shops and admired their blue and white china. Thank goodness it was really expensive. My back was killing me at this point with all my stuff! One tiny glass ornament was 40 Euro. So postcards was all I brought back with me from there. I would never buy any but I did go in and look at the joints. This for some reason makes my friends in Cork laugh their heads off. I think it was the idea of me window shopping pot. Caught a girl trying to pickpocket me. I turned around and she had her hand deep in my back pack. Thank goodness I caught her. Not that she would have gotten anything out of my kleenex pocket....
I loved this city aside from the constant smell of pot and rude pickpockets. The streets are clean and there are pretty canals and bridges everywhere. Bicycles everywhere and boats too. Not to mention the beautiful tall brown houses. At night many of them light up and its a sight to see. Going in the fall was awesome. The orange and yellow trees looked beautiful against the brown houses and dark canals. They certainly have a color theme going on in Amsterdam. It wasn't long enough to see this place but I'll just have to go back some day.
