Well..... this is what I came over for! I am now off to my posting in Phou Khao Khouy, Ba Na Villiage, Central Laos. Just a few thoughts, but before that, there are no telephones or internet in the villiage, although my mobile should work.

I will only be able to get onto the internet or phone out when I go into the main town (about 1 1/2 hours away, which I guess will be once every one to 2 weeks.

Therefore if anyone needs to get hold of me you can call me on:

+66 856 536 726

Please note that I am not sure if you will need to use a different country code for Laos. If so, just replace the +66 with the relevant code.

I'll be sorry to leave all of my friends here at open mind, but I am sure that we will all keep in touch. I think that both staff & volunteers have shared a unique experience in the preparation for our various tasks ahead.

Chook dee! (Good luck!).

open mind & Nongkai
Goodluck in Laos! I will be doing the same thing shortly. I've always wanted to volunteer for kids. It's good to know the experience in Nongkai went well. Take care.

Volunteering in Laos
Hi Dawn, It's good to hear from you. Ban Hatkhai is a very special place, and not one that is easy to leave. Maybe you might consider spending some time there as there is a chance to work with the kids as well as the guides, and I think that if you want a truly unique experience, this is it! Good luck in which ever project you decide to take on, and maybe I will meet you at Openmind. Shaun
