Setting Out

Time for the first update from Fred and Brenda. They set off Monday morning by taxi to the port, and then, well, I'll let Fred tell you how it's going so far (rest assured I will be correcting his grammar before I press the publish button though)...

It's Wednesday and the time on board is 10.30 in the morning, same as at home.

We left Southampton to the sounds of a school choir singing Christmas carols accompanied by a brass band. Thought they did very well. As we pulled away from the berth there was some four minutes of a firework display. Relaxed that evening and most of the next day as it is a bit choppy going thru the Bay of Biscay.

Today is even worse, we hit some kind of storm going across the Atlantic and many passengers are feeling the affects, although at the moment both Brenda and myself are ok. According to the captain it is blowing a gale force 9.

The ship itself is pretty good. It holds about twelve hundred passengers, being so small it makes it a very friendly vessel.

Well, not a lot to say at the moment as we are at sea until Friday when we arrive at Tenerife, so I will update you again after our departure.
I'm off now for some exercise in the gym - only kidding I'm really off to elevenses.

trust me to be the first
Hi Fred and Brenda, Whats the food like first class no doubt but is it foreign and will you be getting a real Brit christmas roast Christmas Day, and will the captain wake you up with rum in your tea. Say hello to the table mate for me, tell them I'm the greatest and say Beryl is very nice. Please stay very calm for the rest of the trip
