Qing speaking:
So after the grueling transit day from Sapa to Hanoi to Hoian we
decided to treat ourlselves. Luckily, the taxi driver (under
commission kickbacks) drove us to Phouc An Hotel, a rather posh hotel,
a little outside of the main part of Hoi An. We were sold when the
bell boy showed us to a room with a queen size bed, scattered rose
petals, a huge basin sink, and a computer with internet. What was
even better was the bell boy quoted us a $30 room for $22. Too bad
the bellboy got yelled at by the receptionist when we came down to
reserve the room...nice guy too!
So my first day (not Jeff's) at HoiAn was like a kid in a candy store!
With miles and miles of custom tailor shops. I was drooling thinking
about all the pants that can fit me, yay!! No more abercrombie kids
pants for me! For this reason, Jeff was coerced into staying at HoiAn
for two more nights...hehe...
Anyway, too much "candy" got me sick because after two days of
measuring and fitting, waiting and pushy sales ladies (supposed
tailors) made me want to just burn everything I bought--ask Jeff its

true. I think six months from now, crying in the some department
store dressing room with nothing fitting right...I will appreciate
this experience.
Note to anyone who plans to get stuff done, the quality is hard to
tell between a $45 suit versus a $200 suit. Youre really just paying
for service. Although in A Dong Silk (a place I couldnt afford) you
get professional service, a suit bag and a type of lining I couldn't
find in any other shop.

So off we go to Mui Ne on a 22 hour bus ride. Stay tuned! =D

Jeff Speaking:
Lets see what could I add that Qing has left out. Oh yes, on our way
to HoiAn from the Danang train station, we took a taxi with two
Americans named Bob (one a Vietnam vet, the other not) Along the way
the taxi driver kept pointing out various military bases, cemetaries,
and destroyed sites. He also pointed out an old GI golf course. Bob
just seems to nod and then turn to us and explain its significance to
us. Note that Danang is near where most of the devastation had
occured.
What also intrigued me was a lady on a motorbike who paced our taxi
to get us to follow her to Marble mountain. That didnt bother me,
what did bother me was her constant use of "Totally awesome".

We must also add that our favorite place we have eaten here is at Cargo Club. We have eaten here 4 out of the 5 days. This place provided great relief from everyday vietnamese food, offering sammiches and other french fare.

Oh yes. I also have to add that Qing spend a total of $160 and got a suit, 2 pants, a dress, and a coat made.

Hanoi -> Halong Bay -> Cat Ba Island -> Halong City -> Hanoi -> Sapa
-> Hanoi -> HoiAn.
