Montenegro Time Travel

If anyone has seen the James Bond movie Casino Royale, you might remember shots of an amazing fiord in Montenegro whilst JB was convalescing after a rather painfull experience with a less than complete chair, and a large blunt object smashing some of his tender parts.

Well, not to be outdone, (except for the blunt object smashing part) we decided to check out this place and traveled south of Dubrovnik to Kotor on the bay of Kotor.

Whilst driving around we have passed through numerous checkpoints as we travel in and out of Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina & Croatia.
interestingly, for a set of countries recently at war, you would think they would be rather more vigilant when checking passports.
We pretty much had to convince them to let us give them our passports as they tried to wave us on with a cursory wave and a yawn.
Luckily we did manage to get one stamp on our passport from Montenegro and we managed to extract a laugh from one of the customs guards who asked us where our kangaroo was!!

These photos dont do this place justice as small medieval cities on the base of huge mountains on large lakes just look like tiny orange dots in the photos. There were also some impressive looking castles and walls cut into the mountains which one could climb.
We gave it some thought, but after Dubrovnik's steps just couldn't bear the thought of more exercise.

Also of interest was that Montenegro has only just (two years ago) got it's independence from Serbia and is still stuck in the early 80's.
This is probably great news for Duran Duran & David Hasslehoff, but not so good for their fashion sense.
If it hadn't been rude to do so, I would have taken shots of some of these FONs. Seriously, I cannot describe the clothing, woman wearing predominantly gold and silver shiny clothes in the middle of the day.
Yesterday, we saw a guy with a bright pink pollo top, faded jeans and a white belt.
We are not sure if he was the best, or the guy with the black leather beach shorts..
