nice from afar... not so when close
At half past eight we left our backpacks in the cell and went for a quick look at Karosta naval port. We couldn't find anything of interest and there wasn't much of anything else. Karosta was still a pretty eerie place even in daylight. People just stood on their balconies and stared at us. Almost like a horror movie.

Back in Liepaja we caught a bus to Klaipeda which took around two hours. Funnily there were about eight of us who got off our bus and walked over the car park to the hostel. Luckily we'd booked earlier in the morning and had got the last two beds. The hostel is tiny and they make you leave between 12 and 3.

We went into Klaipeda centre and had a walk around. There isn't much there, but its quite pretty. We did find a nice bar called Boogiewoogie which served the local beer. I can't remember the name so I will write it later.

We walked to a hotel back in the old town to see if we could get wifi so Rob could ring his parents, but we couldn't access it.

We found a restaurant of the same chain we ate at in Riga and ate there. I had a fantastic saffron couscous and Rob had a chicken kiev, we also both shared a traditional potato dish. It cost £8, such a stupidly cheap meal, we still can't believe it.

Back at the hostel we got a shower and then sat in the smallest common room ever. Currently there are five of us squished on one sofa, and we can't go into the bedroom because people are sleeping. Oh well, it is cosy at least.

Country number four here we are. Night night. Stob.

Getting out of prison!
Pleased you have progressed out of the prison. Both Robert's grandmothers were told he was in a Russian prison and both believed there had been trouble, until we gave them the full story! Good to speak to you via Skype Robert - it seems to work well. You came across very clearly. I will try and get the camera working for our next call so you can see us. We are now back at work worst luck. luv to you both, DadC
