Waiting at the airport...Waiting at the airport...Waiting at the airport...

We waited for an hour for the car place to open.
Not bad for a first day. Actually, the good fortune began before we even got to Guate. Marla and got our seats upgrated to first class. Flight was bumpy as hell though. We got to Guate at about 5am but the rental car place did not open till 6, so we had to sit around and wait for an hour. We finally got our car and the adventure began. Those of you who have travelled anywhere with me know that i have the worst sense of direction in the entire world. I get turned around in my own neighborhood! The trick was getting out of the city, from there it was to be smooth sailing. It took us about 2 hours to actually find the internatial road to Honduras. It happened to us twice today that we went to a city and could not find our way out. Anyway, the Guatemalan country side is amazing! Its lush and green and looks like it is manicured or grommed and it seems to be endless. It took us 6 hours to get to Honduras. We went through a couple of small towns finally arriving at Copan, Honduras at about 2pm. The city of

Parque Central
copan is cool. Cobble stone streets and brick and adobe buildings with red roof tiles. Very chill. Its not as hot as i thought it would be. Tomorrow we are hiking to the nearby Mayan ruins. From here we will head out to Puerto Barrios, Guatemala and then onto Belize.
