Hello everyone -

We're staying just outside of Grand Teton National Park tonight, and tomorrow we're hoping to snag a site within the park.

Our first night of the trip we stayed at a great little campground in Glendale, Utah. The campground was bordered by apple orchards which were great for playing frisbee. We also got to see (and feed carrots to) a couple burros and a couple alpacas (maybe they were juvenile llamas, I don't know). The girls were great travelers all that way.

Last night we were at a national forest campground near Bear Lake, in the upper east corner of Utah. We were up in the aspen with wild roses everywhere, although they were not yet in bloom. We learned that there is a cave just across the Idaho border, which was a 20-mile detour from the route we were taking and decided we should visit it. We got to visit ten rooms of the cave, ending up 300 feet below the surface. It's a 'living cave' with formations still active, and there were some neat formations, although the cave was nowhere near as impressive as Kartchner Caverns in southern Arizona.

we drove through Paris... Idaho, and then crossed into Wyoming and drove through the very beautiful Star Valley, stopping for lunch supplies at the little grocery store owned by Rulon Gardner's family (the US wrestler who beat the unbeaten Russian and won gold in the Olympics).

The girls are amazed at the greens here in the forests and mountains. It is really beautiful here and we can see the tips of the Tetons from our campsite tonight. We've seen a fair amount of wildlife, including buffalo, elk, deer, wild turkey, coyote, and antelope.

I'm going to try to attach some photos here so that this will be worth your while...

Comment No. 1 (what else?)
Hi, you guys! Sounds like you're having a wonderful time! It's good to hear from you. The pictures are wonderful, and as always, the kidlets are precious and fun to look at (probably about as much fun as when they pose!). I'd tell you about what's happening on this end, but then you'd go back to that cave, hole up, and never come out. ;D Hugs to all, and a safe trip throughout. More pix! Manhattans always pending, -David
