left kanchanaburi today, so sad! we got a picture with apple and yui and everyone from the guesthouse. it was sad to say goodbye to yui, she's so cute ! she was sad too. as we were driving away in the tuktuk she ran over and stuck her arms through the wall and called our names and waved, we almost cried, so adorable!

successfully go the public bus to supanburi. several eccentric old ladies got on throughout the trip and tried to talk to kim. one of them was stroking her skin, amazed with how white it is HAHA! the other one was a chatterbox and we think she was high on some weird herbal somethingorother. she kept slathering this smelly stuff on her hands and smelling it over and over.

we switched busses at supanburi and got on one for ayutthaya. i really had to pee but we only had a minute until we were leaving. i guess the driver saw me bobbing around (and thought i wanted water) cause they pulled into a gas station so i could buy water and pee! i have successfully stopped thai public transit with my small bladder! hehe

got in to ayutthaya and found oru guest house easily enough, it was really close to the bus station.

went for lunch an ordered a hamburder that was undercooked (well, i didn't order it undercooked, it came that way). they took it back and cooked it again but it was sTILL raw (didn't eat it). kim ordered onion rings as part of her meal and they tasted like doughnuts. (?!?!)

after our disappointing lunch, we decided to not do a boat tour of the ruins, but find them on foot ourselves. bad idea, found smelly streets and packs of wild dogs instead. stinking hot too. got annoyed and went back to the guesthouse to read for an hour. low morale from the raw burger didn't help.

in the evening we went on an ancient ruin temple tour, cos they're all lit up from 7-9. other people on our tour were jocelyne (lady from quebec) and patrick (guy form hawaii). the highlight of the tour was when patrick bribed the guard to let us run around one of the massive ruins in the dark! it was so amazing! we climbed to the top of a really steep stairway thing (on hands and knees!!) and had an amazing view. took some really gerat pictures of the ruins and our shadows on the wall. the sky was lit up with distant lightening - definitely an experience that i will remember for the rest of my life!

afterwards went back to the guesthouse and chatted and planned out our trip more (both our new friends had been where we're going and had lots of advice) and then we stayed up till 1 am talking to patrick. he's really smart and we really enjoyed talking to him. also very well travelled, so he had lots of good stories!
