so tired! we woke up at 4am (jet lag) and ate pocky and played cards. then read for a bit and tried to sleep, but that didn't work, so we got up and went for a walk at 6am. we got lots of strange looks! i guess most farang aren't normally up at that time! we discovered the cute little backpacker's area of town, which we somehow missed yesterday (even though it's pretty much right out the door of our guesthouse).

had delicious breakfast of banana pancakes and lots of toast, we thought we ordered 8 slices of bacon, not 8 slices of toast. whoops!

signed up for our tour tomorrow, which has lots of great stuff.

the first place we went was the death railway museum, it was SO GOOD! really well done. answered a lot of the questions we were asking each other yesterday when walking through the allied war cemetary (like "how do they know who died when? who keeps track of it? how did they know where all the bodies were?") the power went out halfway through, so we got a free pop in the coffee shop. it came back on so we were able to finish the exhibit.

there was so much information that we learned that i want to write about but i'm lazy and tired. bought a book about it at the end. seriously one of the most informative, well done museums i've ever been in.

this is where i would outline what the death railway is, but google it cos i don't have time. you can read my book if you want. hehe

there was a really good statue in ther called "two malarias and a cholera". i'll try and find a pic later. the shear number of deaths was mindboggling, and so many of them could have been prevented with slightly larger rations, vitamins, and smarter japanese troups. they had a thing that said "don't forget, one never puts the smartest troups to guard the prisoners." so true! the pace that railway was built at was breakneck and the conditions atrocious. should have taken five years, took 14 months or somethign ridiculous like that.

also went to the WWII and jeath museums, both good but not as good as the first. there were some disturbingly anatomically correct mannequins. took pictures. hehe they had little loin clothes but someone took the time to make giant weenies underneath. for our entertainment? think so! got some awesome pics of the museum, will get on posting those later.

there's the WORLD'S CUTEST PUPPY that lives at our guesthouse (called apple's guesthouse). his/her name is chuchu! LOVE CHUCHU! gonna steal him.

drank thai red bull for the first time, needed it after that 4 am start.

also checked out the chinese cemetary, everything so ornate! sank in the mud a bit.

kim and i have some seriously interesting hair going on in the tropics. humidity is not our friend. have dubbed kim's hair her "jew curls". like the orthodox jews have? quite interesting. will also post pics later, quite possibly the funniest thing i have ever seen. laughed until we cried at dinner over them.

met a guy in the death railway museum who ate boiled chicken feet and got sick. what a surprise. kim and i have not been so adventerous. i spelt that wrong.
