Loving on a zebra
The zebra and I are best friends. For reasons unknown to me, I woke up freakishly early this morning. Like 6 am early. Usually when I am faced with surplus time, I spend it reading in bed. Today, however, I decided to productive and go for a run. That's right, a run. I'm usually morally against running, but today just seemed like a run sort of day. So through of googlemap and mapmyrun I found a 2.5 mile route to the nearby Westerpark and decided to check it out.
The run started out just fine. The air was fresh, there weren't many people out, and I had a nice rhythm going. But then Hark! What could that be in the distance? There on the pond?It turned out to be a floating statue of what I assume to be a headless Marie Antoinette. And while that is spectacular enough, it got even better.
What are those small fuzzy things at the foot of the statue?
No!
They couldn't be.
They are!
Dear God they are!!!!!
This is too good to be true!
At the foot of the headless Marie Antoinette statue floating in the pond were......

Purty flutterby
We tried so hard to get a picture of the big blue butterflies in the butterfly house. Damn things never land. Interesting note...the butterflies and the sea lions were in the same exhibit. ...

BABY CHICKEN DUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you know me, then you know my total preoccupation with Chicken Ducks and should applaud me for exercising incredible self control by not immediately jumping into the pond to scoop them all up. Further exploration of the pond revealed all sorts of baby waterfowl. Baby chicken ducks, baby normal ducks, and possible even some baby herons. There was even a particularly cute pile of fuzzy baby somethings.....they all dogpiled to create some sort of duckpuddle that I wanted to use as a pillow. Obviously, this find terminated my run. I like to think that God sent down tons and tons of baby chicken ducks to distract me because it is not in His Plan for me to run. This is divine proof. I will definitely bring a camera next time I go so that I can share the beauty of fuzzy baby chicken ducks.
The baby ducks also served to prime me for later today when I go to the ZOO!!!!!!!!!! Pictures to come.
Also expect a bunch of pictures this weekend because I will be going
to Utrecht
for an elf festival. I won't elaborate right now, but hopefully there will be many pictures of me cavorting with elves, at a slave market, and with The Hulk.
I also really want to go to Cavalia.
And am excited for Queen's Day. Must stock up on Orange.

Loved the zoo photos. The tulips are astounding! You get an A plus for your photo composition. Loved the giraffe pix. Giraffes are one of my favorite animals. You look great as a tortoise, but walking might prove to be a challenge. Take care!
