Hi Guys

After a lovely Christmas with Jo and Mike in Goa, we caught a 16hr sleeper train to Kochi. The train was not as bad as we thought, 16 hrs seems a long time but after sleeping half of the way there the rest of the journey was quite a scenic and enjoyable experience.

We arrived in Fort Kochi and found a home stay guest house to stay in. Fort Kochi is an old fishing port dating back hundreds of years, the chinese fishing nets were originally constructed 500 years ago, We had a go and caught some really weird and wonderful fish.

After a couple of days we decided to head off to Allepey to try and catch a houseboat for New Year, unfortunately Saddam was executed and all hell broke loose. All of the Indian people went on a "tourist strike" and we could not get any transport. We were informed that a taxi rank right in the downtown suburbs of Fort Kochi would ignore the strike and take us there. Well, they all thought we were Yanks and were shouting "out with the Americans" and were directing us down some really spooky streets. A little bit hairy to say the least!

We eventually found a cab and headed for Allepey.
