Hello all,
This is a quick, not so detailed blog, but I just want to let you all know that I'm safe and sound in Florence.
I left this morning around 8:20 to catch the bus. I was really worried because Chiel told me that there were constructions on the road and that the bus was going to take a detour...which means it'll be late to the station. Not good. So i was pretty antsy on the bus. When it arrived at the station, I bolted out of the door along with 3 other people also wanting to catch the same train as me. I had to buy my ticket to Eindhoven and to make the story short, I made the train with one minute to spare. The train headed to Utrecht Centraal and then I had to get off and transfer to another train in 5 minutes. However, the train to utrecht was late! I panicked and then realized that I should sit on the bench for a second. Sometimes patience is rewarding, and this time it was. I sat for 10 minutes and watched the train schedule. It wonderfully changed to Eindhoven again.
I arrived at
the Eindhoven station, bought a sandwich because i was starving and then thanks to my research headed off to find bus number 401: Hermes. I hopped the bus just in time...after knocking the glass lightly with my knuckle because the door was closed. The bus driver didn't even say anything and just pointed downwards. Oh, a button on the door to press...interesting. Unlike Enschede buses, I didn't pay the driver, but had to use a machine on the bus. But I didn't have any coins and that's all it took. So I chanced it and didn't pay. When the doors opened to the airport, i again, bolted out and entered the airport. My limit for my back was 15kg and it was only 8! Which means 7 possible kg of olive oil that i can bring back. haha.
The airport part went very smoothly and it was free boarding on the plane, so I got a window seat and met this really nice lady with a baby who actually lives in Florence. She gave me some tips and also told me that the bus from the airport to florence is only a few euros more but it's faster and
My plane
Yay for ryan air being so cheap! very reliable. I decided since i didn't pay for the bus to the airport that I would go for the coach bus to florence instead of having to deal with the crazy trains.
I got to the hostel just fine. It's great with a locker that fits my whole backpack. I went out to look for some food and went into this wine bar - they're everywhere. Ordered a pesto and tomato panini and a glass of white wine. I might as well start of the right way in Italy!
I waited half an hour to get on this computer for half an hour...but it's worth it to say hi to all and tell you how my long day went. I can't hook up my computer to upload some pictures, but there are internet cafes everywhere so maybe i'll go to one of those after tomorrow. Gotta go, but lots of amore and kisses. Say hi if you'd like. I also have half an hour tomorrow. But I don't know how long my posts will be here the keyboards are crazy.
love,
myia
