Robin and I were all set to go up to Pai yesterday but unfortunately the bad luck set in again. I became violently violently ill yesterday to the point of having to spend most of my day wrapped around the toilet in my guest house room. I had a serious fever coupled with serious chills and could not keep any liquids in at all. I had to be taken to the hospital for an IV drip and antibiotics. My god, the pain.

I was so dehydrated that the nurses could barely find a vein to put the needle in, and when they drew blood it was barely flowing and as my brother Robin described, "had the consistency of heinz ketchup in a glass bottle".

I feel so much better today, and hopefully will finally be able to get up north like was originally planned.

In the days prior to my hospital admittance I was having a great time. We went on a lovely hike through the jungle two days ago, and the night before that I had a great time at a food festival.

I'm sure that getting sick is all a part of the adventure....right?

Ketchup?
That sucks. what are Thai hospitals like? Do you know what got you sick? I bet it was some ancient Buddhist curse. Or maybe the exotic food. Either way, how does the toliet feel about all this?

oh poor little Darcy, when I had the violent diarreah in Malaysia a lady gave me a Chinese herb and it bunged me right up, though the stomach pains it caused were worse than the shits. Much love!
