I can throughly recommend what I did. I spent about 2 weeks in Sydney (2 weeks is too long, maybe 4-7 days is better, especially if you want to see the south or west). I then Oz Experienced it from Sydney to Cairns which took about a 3 weeks and it was an unforgettable experience. I met some of my closest friends in these 3 weeks and had the experience of a lifetime. Highlights of the east coast for me were Byron Bay (a tiny town by the beach, nearly carribbean in the way of life there), the Blue Mountains were awesome, Fraser Island which was just the most amazing place i've ever been, and the Whitsunday Islands were paradise. For work I cannot help too much but Oz Experience can drop you to a town called Inisfail who are supposedly always looking for people to work on their farms. Get in with the locals there and you can get well paid, don't go for the first job you see advertised because they are usually for people like us! Of course Ayers rock is a must. I thought i would be disapointed, i mean it is only a rock! but what a rock..... it was beautiful. In the north I stayed in Darwin, which was not the most exciting or nicest town but from there you can go to Kakadu national park which was great, and there is also another smaller national park which you can visit. i never got to go to the west coast but i've heard from friends that if you want pure untouched nature it is the place to be.... tasmania is also highly recommended. most hostels are about $20 a night and always full of backpackers! i hope some of this is useful to you! Im going on a trip with Oz Experience/ Adventure tours from Adelaide-Alice Springs-Darwin! They sound like a good company to go with then!? | Gesa you will find the most work in Sydney! There are agencies and also lots of bar, hotel and restaurant work. To serve food and alcohol you need to attend a day course but its fairly cheap and worth it if you want this kind of work. As for nice places to see? The choice is endless. Ive spent the last week in Sydney, and as of Sunday i will be doing a tour as i said above for 2 weeks but then im going home to England. im coming back in the winter (oz summer) to do the east coast cairns to Sydney. I think up the middle and down the east are the most popular attractions, but for any more indepth secret places talk to a local agent in Oz. Ive spoken to many and they have a wealth of knowledge! have fun xx Number of Users: 4 | Number of Posts: 4 | ||||||||||||
