As a keen traveller I realise this could potentially be a great base to explore various countries. Just wondering how easy/cost effective is it to travel to Geneva, Turin, Marsellie, Nice and Monte Carlo from Lyon? Also would appreciate any information on what Lyon itself has to offer. Thanks! ashleyrae ashley wright Post Count: 26 Msg: #2 91 weeks ago, April 1st 2008 | Hi tim, | i hosted an exchange student from lyon for a month, so naturally i hammered her with questions and will hopefully be visiting her in her home town late this year/early next year. this website is very handy for working out costs and lengths of the trips. as lyon is the (2nd/3rd?) largest city in france, the TGV will take you to most places in france and other countries. this is the australian version. Rail Europe I would stick to the TGV as it is the fastest, cleanest and most efficient form of transport in France. lyon itself is a spectacular city, full of its own unique culture (so jealous that you will be there!) the obvious thing to visit is Vieux Lyon ('Old Lyon') Old Lyon also, see the Fourviere marie, my exchange student, said that she loved strolling through the Place des Terreaux at night. from this photo its easy to see why. thats about all i know. hope i helped. u should definitely go to lyon.
