We are a centre for the disabled in the fabulous location of Iringa tanzania. We have over 90 disabled and deaf people working inour craft workshop and amazing cafe run entirely by deaf people(chocolate cake ice cream fresh ground coffee...!!!). We have also set up a physiotherqpy service as there is nothing available to disabled people in our region of tanzania. We do village outreach for disabled children, mainly cerebral palsy and have seen fantastic results so far. we also have a room at our centre in ton where we see any disabled child for free or for a negligable cost if they can afford to pay. We have good links to orthopaedic surgeons and have already sent several children for corrective surgery. Our aim is to find the disabled children while they are still young enough for us to be able to amke a difference to them long term. Do get in touch if you are interested check us out at www.neemacrafts.com and watch these videos for a better picture of who our guys are... http://www.vimeo.com/211868 http://artinafrica.blogspot.com/2007/12/day-72-iringa.html http://www.vimeo.com/322185 http://www.vimeo.com/322277

Hi there, I am a UK trained physiotherapist with 18 months experience and am very interested in doing some volunteer work in Africa in 2009. Are you still looking for volunteers? Reply to this

Hi, thanks for geting in touch. Yes we are still interested in volunteers to work alongside our Tanzanian Physio. I assume you've looked at our web site etc. already. We would love to explore the possibility of your volunteering if you are interested. We would do a phone interview with you if possible first and go from there. We are just about to move to new premises with a new physio room. Please could you send us a CV to the e-mail and anything more personal you may wish to add eg your reasons for wanting to volunteer in Africa on this type of project etc.

Andy

Hi, I'm in my final year of studying physiotherapy at Brunel University and am very interested in volunteering in Africa in the coming months. I've had three neurological placements throughout my degree one of which was mainly focused on children with CP. I was wondering if you could possibly send me some details and let me know costs etc if you are still looking for people to help out? Thanks. Reply to this

we are really looking for physios with some experience as we want them to be able to give our physio extra training and guidance. We already have a disabled masai girl who we have trained as a physio assistant. I will mention you to my wife however and ask (she runs Neema Craft) if you want to enquire further check out the web site and our e-mail address is there. Andy Reply to this

Hi Andy, I've been reading your posts re help from physios. I am a senior paediatric physio working with children with cerebral palsy in Australia and I would be very interested in coming and spending some time with you. Are you still looking? Cheers Reply to this

Hi there,

I am a recent Physiotherapy graduate form the University of Liverpool and I am very keen to do a physio placement out in Africa, ideally Tanzania, and this projects sounds great.
I would love to work in child disability and this would give me an amazing chance to use my new skills where they are really needed and for me to gain experience in this field.
Please contact me with further details
