I myself will be flying out end of November for Xmas & New Year. Even if this is your first trip you will be amazed by the beauty of this country and its people. Ignore the warnings some travel books give about the food at the beach shacks, the food is all freshly prepared and I have eaten at many with no sign of a dodgy belly. It is usually the malaria tablets a lot of people take that upsets them. Myself personally dont take them as it is very low risk outside the monsoon season. Dont buy sun cream or insect repelant before you go get it in goa when you arrive at a fraction of the cost. Anjuna market is a must but be ready to haggle! Go for at least a third of any price you are offered. If its possible take a load of pens or sweets for the children, dont give them money or before you know it you will be surrounded by eager little hands wanting the same. With sellars be firm but POLITE. If you visit the capital Panjim be careful not to smoke in the street it is illegal in Goa. The local police will be happy to take some of your spending money if they catch you. The cost of living out there is peanuts in comparrison with the uk but you can still pay way over the odds if your not careful. Just bear in mind the average monthly wage is around 35 pounds a month. The things to see and do in Goa is endless and I am sure you will have a great time. | Hope this helps, Steve. faye de lou Faye Louise Crossland Post Count: 7 Msg: #4 4 years ago, September 22nd 2005 | Hi, | Will be having my first xmas away from this year in Goa cant wait, been twice this year, had a sunday dinner but the chicken was curried, and veg lik mash! so would stick to a local dish!
