I have heard about some hill tribes market. In Sapa there are books telling about Coc Ly, Lung Khau Nhin or Bac Ha market.
My friend introduced me a market named Cao Son. She said it is really worth visiting this market.
Anyone can help me to find more info about this market? Reply to this

loic,
Cao Son market is not very popular to travelers but to some people, Cao Son is a great attraction for it is not spoiled by travel. It is 1,500 m height, with mainly Mong Hoa people living. From Lao Cai, you can trek along Nam Thi river (stream) to Khuong village, to Lung Khau Nhin, then you can reach Cao Son. Cao Son market is held along the bottom of the mountain. They buy and sell local (home-made products). You can choose another way to Cao Son: To Phiet village -> Lau village -> 15th km then via Thanh Binh farm, then you can reach Cao Son but this road is very rough and hard. Therefore, the landscape is not spoiled.
There are some changes in Cao Son, the life of people is better, the people are very kind...It is great if you have time to visit.
Have a nice trip! Reply to this

There is a tour company called Smile something or other! If you google it you should find it - think they are in the North somewhere. Good luck - you will love Viet Nam! Mai. Reply to this

loic,
It is possible to stay overnight at Cao Son lodge (I have no more information on this lodge), I only know you can stay overnight there. There is also a note for your trip if you go by yourself that the food is not good, it is poor as the people there. Therefore, you have a good experience when visiting this market.
As far as I know, Cao Son market is also on Thursday.
I do not know about any guide but you may check this website www.vietnamtravel-leisure.com , it may be in help. This is all I know. Have a nice weekend and hope you will have a good trip in Vietnam. Reply to this

Hello. I am arriving in Ho Chi Minh city at 2am in the morning in about 1 month from now from Japan.
Is it possible to find a cheap hotel to book in at this time of the morning?
Also where are the cheaper priced hotels / hostels located?
Thanks in advance for any help. Reply to this

Mboy,
Sure, you can find a cheap hotel at that time but be sure that you booked in advance (some hotel close in the midnight, so ask them if they are ready at 2am). You can find a hotel at Pham Ngu Lao street. Reply to this

nit not,
there are some good places you can visit during in Hanoi
- Old quarters
- Cyclo tour around Old quarters
- Museum of Ethnology
- Water puppet show
- Some pagodas
Danang
When in Danang, you should spend afternoon time standing on one bank of Han River (divide the city into two parts)
Hoian
There are many things to do in Hoi an, this is a very small old town.
The Weather,
In Hanoi, we have welcome Summer in May, so it is really hot
In Danang and Hoi an, it is hot also. Not much rain but you may see some heavy rain in a day.
Malaria, I think the places you visit do not get influenced by malaria so you need not a vaccination. Only one thing you have to do: Enjoy your trip. Reply to this

hello Le again,
I came back from Cao Son few days ago. It was really a beautiful place.
U r right, it is poor and even the food but the landscape is overwhemling. I stayed in Cao Son ecolodge. It belongs to Pole-star travel.
This company has their private train carriages from Hanoi to Lao Cai. One more thing, this place is not touristic and it is very alike with Sapa where I also stayed for 01 night.
Cao Son market is on Wednesday.
I think u should come there for an unique experience.
I will post some pictures in my blog so that u can view them.
Have a good day! Reply to this
