First time round the world

Having read your reeeeeeeeally helpful guide to travelling around the world, I still have just a few unanswered questions that I'm hoping your helpful bloggers will be able to help me out with!?

I am a 22 year old female who is about to set off on the adventure of a lifetime round the world for 12 months... alone! I have plans to travel to vietnam, cambodia, thailand, malaysia, singapore, bali, australia, new zealand, fiji, cook islands & west coast of USA.
My original plan took me to Hong Kong for a couple of days at the very beginning of the trip, but finding out that it was going to cost me £200 to fly from there to Vietnam, I'm thinking of shelving the HK idea for another time... would I be missing out on much... would it really be worth £200 to a poor (just graduated) student?!

I've applied for my visa for Vietnam, but can anyone tell me if it would be best to get a visa for Cambodia before I leave, or can I get it in Saigon (HCMC)?

Having obtained my working holiday visa, I'm hoping to work in Australia (more specifically, Sydney). I would love to be able to earn enough money over a period of approximately 5 months to pay for some great experiences like sky diving and a couple of bungee jumps. Does anyone know if its possible to get good 'temping' work as office support/secretary work in Australia (I do have some experience... failing that I've worked in numerous pubs over the last 5 years!)

Finally (sorry to have gone on for so long!) I would really love to be able to ski when I'm in New Zealand. I think I'm going to be travelling from Christchurch to Auckland for about 6 weeks from May to June... but worry that the ski resorts won't be open until later in the year... does anyone know when the season starts?

Thanku in advance to anyone who is able to give me any little piece of advice you may have...

HAPPY TRAVELLING!
