Ushuaia - Christmas - where should we go - what should we do?
B Posts: 126
Hi everyone,
We are currently travelling around South America and expect to be in Ushuaia from 21 to 26 December. Any ideas where we can stay in Ushuaia that will be fun but cheap for Christmas? If not in Ushuaia, somewhere else close by?
Thanks for any suggestions,

Hi Ruth
Our experience was simply that on Christmas Eve the prices in the few restaurants which stayed open in Ushuaia shot up. We were talking 50-100 pesos per person, even for a buffet!
We recommend stopping in Rio Grande on the way down (Windy Rio Grande) where the Hostel Argentino was a fun place to stay. It's quite a way from where the bus drops you off though, so get a taxi!!
The surroundings of Ushuaia are great (Ushuaia - Merry Christmas from the End of the World) and make time for walking in the National Park and taking a trip on the Beagle Channel.
It was cold and windy though, we felt like we didn't have a summer last year!!
Take care, have fun, and I look forward to reading all about it.

I have heard that the only authentic place to go near Ushuaia is south to Puerto Williams in Chile, the true "southernmost city in the world". Ok so maybe Im just throwing that out there because I play favorites to chile! I have no idea where to go, as I have never been south of Punta Arenas! :D Reply to this
