Bringing a laptop?

A question about bringing a laptop with me to Egypt
16 years ago, October 13th 2007 No: 1 Msg: #20845
I will be traveling in Egypt..on a tour....and since I do write a daily blog here in the USA, I am wondering how secure it is to bring a laptop with me on this 16 day trip. We will be staying in 4-5 star hotels, along with a cruise ship for four nights.....but are there enough places with internet access that it would be worth the hassle of carrying a laptop along with us??

Any thoughts on this topic will surely be appreciated!!

THANKS!!! Shokrun!! Reply to this

Just look up on the Internet and see if those hotels you're staying in offer wireless. You might have to write the blogs on your laptop, but then post your blogs in an Internet Cafe. The Internet is easy to find, but wireless is not really as far as I remember. I can't speak for your cruise. Just look it up. We traveled with a laptop in East Africa and it was no problem. Take the usual precautions. Don't show it off to the world unnecessarily. Common sense stuff. If you're really worried, many hotels have safetly lockers for valuables, but I don't think that's necessary.

I want to THANK those of you who wrote to me about this. I did take it with me last month......and was able to get online frequently. The costs in the hotels was PROHIBITIVE......as much as a dollar per minute.....UGH! My posts to my own personal blog were updated frequently while we were over there.......as I wrote each night and then posted it when I could.

Again....THANKS!
