Do you think India can become an eco destination?

India, a small subcontinent found in South Asia is basically popular all over the world as a cultural and heritage state. But If we keep them aside, do you think India can become a popular eco destination?

Well at times I feel an eco destination is often confused with a place which has high number of wildlife parks , but thats not true an eco place could be any abode with natural charm graced with heritage.

Latey thorough a site:- Eco India, I came to know that India can be better off an eco destinations.

It has everything- from 441 wildlife parks to more than 25 world heritage sites. I would like you to decide whether you consider India an eco destination or not?

I guess it all depends on how you define eco destination and eco tourism. As commendable as the idea of eco tourism really is, every tourist still leaves a footprint in the form of pollution, waste and consumption. And it doesn't stop there, all parties involved in the project, be it directly or indirectly, such as travel agents, transportation, food providers, souvenir sellers, cleaning service, farmers and car manufacturers etc. etc. also need to look over their generation of waste and energy consumption. Still, every little bit helps, and each step in the right direction is at least a beginning.

Yes! John, I think you are quite right at understanding eco tourism ..I am convinced with your idea of eco tourism.

Eco tourism in generally is knowing local culture, wilderness adventures, volunteering, personal growth, and learning new ways to live on the planet; typically involving travel to destinations where flora, fauna, and cultural heritage are the primary attractions. Sustainable development needs to have social, economic and environmental needs all together to occur.

As far as India is concerned, the word eco tourism is new and so are the ecotourist. I really wonder whether India wld come up as an eco destination or not?

speaking of ecotourism, i just want to share here a piece of good news for those who wish to travel Asia. I found this French reality show called Les Aventuriers Koh-Lanta. It's from the same creators that made the Survivor series. Now, they cast a spotlight on Palawan in the Philippines. And, what can I say? Without sounding too much that I come from the Philippines, let me say here that the show certainly explored and brought to the world the stunning landscape of Palawan, even those places I haven't heard of and been to. And to think I'm from the Philippines. huhuhu. 😊 But it's cool. And I have to be there yet again. Reply to this

they are trying in places like the Andaman Islands. Darjeeling just banned the use of plastic bags. They need a mix of education and will on the part of those in power. There also needs to be a meeting between the huge backpacker community in India that just wants things as cheap as possible and those that are willing to offer sustainable tourism at prices where everyone wins. After spending 2.5 months In India they are a long way off but nothing is impossible. Reply to this

Ya... very true..BLGERBER.. India would take a long way to become an eco destination.. as you said more information regarding eco travel shld be imparted to travel agencies and travellers.

Though more and more shopping zone has evolved of using paper bags instead of plastic but its a very small step against the big cause. Reply to this
