| Has anyone been to the three river gorge recently in China? I was told it was not worth going to because 2/3 of it is already gone. Any information would be great! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

However, if you've seen other more spectactular scenery the gorges are disappointing. The river is very commercial, dirty and polluted so does not really offer much to look at for two days. The river banks are an eyesore combination of old buildings being torn down and new buildings going up. The dam is interesting, but is it worth the money and three-day trip? | If a traveler had a limited schedule and budget I'd suggest a trip to Yangshuo or Longsheng for some beautiful scenery and a relaxing pace instead of the river trip.
