Well, if this is your firs time traveling I would think about traveling somewhere that is similar to where you are: namely, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and other european countries. If you mean traveling as in going to other continents, then some good places are Brazil and Japan. As always, be careful. It is good to have a friend in the area. Reply to this

Hi Laura. I agree with Brand New Creation above - if you haven't really traveled much before, do closer-to-home things first. You have all of Europe in your backyard so take advantage of that! :) I lived in the UK for a year and tried to get out into the rest of Europe as much as I could (France, Ireland, Italy, Greece...) As much as I love to travel, my time in the UK was really the first time I had done it on my own and it was a good place to start. Since then, I've been on my own everywhere I've gone and have gotten more adventureous (Thailand, South America, etc.) If you're not overly comfortable going on your own, the other option I would highly recommend is going with a group from an adventure travel company. The one I've used the most is GAP Adventures. They have trips everywhere and all you have to do is fly yourself to the place where the trip is going to start. From that point on, you'll be with a small group and have a guide. I've done this a lot in places where I haven't necessarily felt safe as a female traveling alone (e.g. South America). I'm actually going with them on another trip in March to Argentina and Antarctica - can't wait! Let us know what you decide to do! Reply to this
