I lived in St petersburg for a couple of months and that was very nice. The only minus was that i lived there during winter... and that is veeeeery cold :) There is a good web page called http://www.saint-petersburg.com/ | Other than that i have been to the ural mountains and it is very interesting, especially going there by train. If you do, please do not travel in your own cabin, travel with "Plats kart". This means that you travel in a wagon with no cabins. You have no privacy but it is very interesting and you will experience a lot of russian culture and people. I also recommmend you to travel to Kaliningrad. I have lived here several years now and it is very interesting and different from the rest of russia.
