im planning a trip with a friend to thailand within the next few months and was wondering if people have ideas on where we should go/vist? what are peoples ideas of thailands must see sights? its not going to be a long stay but we want to see as much of the country as possible. including some adventurous trips, diving, culture and most definately food. Hey antony...

it all depends on what travel Budget and time u got realy...
I would spend a few days in bangkok and explore the city .. get in contact with the locals and they will show u a totaly diffrent side off the city then u would as a "normal turist"...
anyw Other awsome places is
* "the simillian islands" its a pure Dive paradise with some worldclass dive spots... (walesharks, Manta rays, Big turtles etc) grab a live baot ex.. 4days 4nights. queit expensive but worth every penny.
*depending on ur time u should first off all after that go to "ko phi phi" and onto Krabi from Krabi take a Boat out to Raily Beach is realy beautiull and quiet chilled place if u like Climbing this is the place in thailand to be!
*after that u should fly or if u got more time grab a buss then boat to Ko samui,ko phangan, koh tao. I guess you know you should go to atleast 1 Fullmoon party its crazy even if u dont like that kinda music u will have mad fun anyw...
About Koh tao is 1 off my favorites its quiet small island with ALOT dive shops and stuff .. reson i like it is coz its so cozy and chilled bars and resturants and friendly people. and ofc beautifull small beaches and cliff beaches...
*Ko chang also a realy nice place nice beaches etc...

*chang mai go northern thailnad and explore some tribes and see that part off thailand
ones ur alrdy northern part off thailand i would strongly rekomend u to go to Laos and sign upp for "the gibbon experience" Google it and check it out.

sry my bad english but i hope it gave u something to checkout.

Best regards
/ Robin

Nice recommendations Robin.

My girlfriend and I will be in Thailand around September or October. We've read from a weather perspective this is not the best time of year to go. Can anyone comment what beaches provide the sunniest weather this time of year, east coast or west? Reply to this

Hi and thx phil.. =)

thing is i have never been bothered with the rain in thailand on the costal areas it dosent mather from my experience. but yeah some say they dont like it during that time.
But from what i heard and experienced is the ko samui,ko phangan, koh tao side the better one at that time. And normaly its hotter during that time asw but ones in a wile u get hit by a 30min-1.5 hour shower.
witch i think can be quiet amazing to watch ... rain drops as big as ur fingernails smashing down on the street/beach but u can rly see how the clouds gets thiner and thiner untill te sun burns ur alrdy burned face haha.
ex.. I was in koh tao 2006 from 1 sep to 26s sep and it rained about 4 times i think during day time. And if it rains its most likley early mornings or late afternon and its just last for a verry short time.
imo i just think its better coz the air is much more "fresh" and the nature is 10 times more atractive since it get water more often. "dry season" on the other hand can the nature be "boring" in some places.
1 more thing that is positive to travel during sep-oct everything is cheaper. =) backpacking dream.

But if u guys are going to go to vietnam/cambodja during that time check it up since the Monsun there makes it abit harder to travel. (hard to get through some roads etc.. so u have limited choices how u gonna travel Buss, train, fly, bike etc)

I hope this litle info gave some fact u where looking for =)
and i hope u will enjoy ur stay and get some nice dives and other experiences.

Best regards
Robin

Ps: yeye i know my speling isnt what it should be but hey who cares atleast i am trying.... haha

Great suggestions Robin. I was in Thailand in 2003, and the Similan Islands were one of the most amazing places I have ever seen in my life. Reply to this

Hi -
I am going with 2 friends (guy, girl) to Thailand in Aug. We will be there 10 days.
We thought about flying into Bangkok, going to Chiang Mai and then to a beach location (or vice versa).

1. What's the best airline to travel from states to Thailand? We've concluded we're not flying an American airline (since other airlines offer more room - imperative when in the plane for ~25 hrs)
1a. Did you find it's best to fly into Bangkok?
2. Beach area you suggest? Sounds like Phuket and Phi Phi are too $$ at the moment and too 'crowded' (though not sure what thailand terms 'crowded'? Are we talkin like club MTV Spring Break Cancun?)
3. Hotels you suggest? We're late-20s (no high rollers here!) and looking for best deal w/o compromising safety, enjoyment, etc.
4. Suggestions for inter-country travel - most economical and most logical - among Bangkok, Chiang Mai and a random beach town?
5. Any must-sees in your opinion?

I know these are a lot of questions so any input would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for advice you have. Reply to this

Hi. The similans are a truly awesome place to visit.
Be warned that they are closed to visitors from about approx May to October.
The sea can get quite rough and Thai authorities like to let the place
recover from the hundreds of thousands of visitors that visit there in
the high season.

Hey All - I'm going to Thailand in August. Has anyone experienced any restrictions (e.g., inra-island hopping, kayaking, diving) in the beach areas during the monsoon season? Any tips on what to expect during the monsoon season would be very appreciated.

Anyone heard about the vast difference between the Gulf and Andaman side during monsoon season? I read in a travel book that it's best to tend to the Gulf of Thailand side, but I've read here and on other sites that folks are actively traveling and beaching on the Sea side during monsoon season. Thailand is my second home. I stayed there for almost 2.5 years and at least able to visit some of its countryside and of course the city centre of Bangkok.

Yes as the previous blogger mentioned that it really depends what you really want to do in terms of sightseeing in th countryside. I have some pointers here if you want to make your stay enjoyable, relaxing and most of all be able to experience Thai culture.

1. Visit Grand Palace. Buy the complete ticket package including other palaces within the city centre
2. From Grand Palace, try to experience the boat ride along the Chao Phraya River
3. Visit Patpong 'red district' for good bargains of signature products from watches to bags, DVDs, clothes, etc. If you want to buy, make a bargain at least 50-60%!,(MISSING) half of the price of the tag.
4. Visit Chang Mai by train. Try to experience the night market for the good food, mountain trekking and elephant ride.
5. Try to visit Pattaya or Kho Samet which nearest beach areas from Bangkok
6. Visit Ayutthaya, the oldest city in just 45 minutes from the city
7. If you have time, stay two nights at Koh Chang (www.kohchang.com) and it is more quiet than Phuket area. Try to have the island hopping/diving for the whole day covering 5 small islands. It is worth doing it. There is so much to do in this island. It takes 4.5 hrs from Bangkok and on2 hr boat ride to reach the island. Enjoy the Thai massage as well.

If you have questions, please send me message. I will send this message to you privately as well. Try to visit my other blog.
