| ARMENIA A diamond in the rough missing on many Travel Sites. How is that? | |||||||||||||||||||||
TRAVELSAPIEN RGT Post Count: 22 Msg: #1 4 years ago, January 19th 2005 | Amazing. ARMENIA is the cradle of European Christianity. It is a micro cap on the historical development of Christianity developed first in 301 AD ARMENIA antiquities are pure and not squashed under the weight of Tourism overload. The people are fantastic. The food unbelieveable. The Country is pocked with historically significant sites. Within Christianity alone you can timeline the development from the so called PAGAN temples through the churches and monastaries to present day ARMENIA. In fact they have their center of religion that would rival the Vatican and yet even the Christians seem oblivious to the existance of the Country. What is with that? Adventure travel is high on a list of things to do in Armenia. It was the REST stop for the Soviets during their term. Yes. Skiing is hot too. I have visited this country and see it's huge potential BUT trying to find it on a map is amusing if it was not so ridiculous. ARMENIA just does not show up as a country or where it is the name is missing. EVEN ON THIS BLOG! Hello. Give these guys a chance. I have found information on the country best described by a website called Armeniaexplorer. You can of course find it on travelsapien blog. It is one of the few that gives details as to some wildly exciting itineraries worth a boo. I highly recommend visiting Armenia before the rest of the world discovers it. | Ali Ali Watters Post Count: 3919 Msg: #2 4 years ago, January 23rd 2005 | Armenia Info - I can assure you that Armenia wasn't intentionally mised. I've listed it under Asia - you're right though - no one has written about Armenia yet... - when they do - Armenian Travel Journals is where they will appear. If you want to correct that - your welcome to add a back-dated journal :) btw - it is on the asia map - it's just very small in comparison to Russia and China. ps. welcome to travelblog, great to have your opinions and knowledge shared :) [Edited: 06:27 - Ali - typo] TRAVELSAPIEN RGT Post Count: 22 Msg: #3 3 years ago, October 25th 2006 | Good stuff. Nice map! Armenia is still a country in repair. Outside of Yerevan the infrastructure is dotted. The most avid adventure travelers are finding the country like finding an abandoned planet. So much in antiquities, a historical map of christianity, an amazing people yet still wrapped in remorse over their treatment in the past. The young ones are brilliant and the country will survive in spite of their past. Armenia is a great visit. NO Travelsapien is NOT Armenian but simply find this land an inspiration. Then again I like the Mayan Temples and the fabled Silk Road routes as well. UNESCO does a great job identifing historical references and trust they will find a wider engagement with little Armenia too. One thought for the country is that they need to posture their positive virtues and drop the oh me oh my how bad we were treated attitude. The past is done. We all need to realize we learn from the past but we cannot wallow in it. Prosper and market. Curious travelers now and others will follow. The Dutch and Germans have discovered Armenia. Time will tell if we all do. Enjoy | TRAVELSAPIEN RGT Post Count: 22 Msg: #4 3 years ago, October 25th 2006 | Kool A great map of Armenia! Your right on with your thoughts. Is it Asia? Is it Europe? Is it what? Seems they are the axis as history dictates. Trust they will succeed with their new found identity. Oh what was that again? Right. European is what they like to identifiy with for sure. | Armenia will explode with interest as curious travelers are discovering their amazing past. Every visit finds something new. A historical line of peoples, political past, antiquities, christianity litterly identified right back to the beginning. Great brandy too! Number of Users: 2 | Number of Posts: 4 | |||||||||||||
