30 Days Japan+China+Thailand+Indonesia Need advise from expert travelers/backpackers/budget travellers about the feasibility of the below schedule

30 Days Japan+China+Thailand+Indonesia @$4,000

Sounds a bit edgy, something like "around the world in 80 days". But that's my plan, based on research of best routes and airfares.

To give background, I am from Nepal with Job in India. I will be moving to Australia in July so before I settle to another world, i want to explore asia with limited budget($4000)/time(1 month).

I have already visited Malaysia+Singapore, so out of scope.

I am starting from India to Japan as I have few friends there. China seems mysterious to me and big country so I want to explore that and make a accurate perception rather than let my imagination judge the country. And I love pandas so I am not going to miss Chengdu.

Below is my itinerary, I would be grateful if fellow travelers/ backpackers and budget travelers can advise me on the schedule and any other considerations.

JAPAN Dates
Osaka 5th June
Tokyo 6--7th June
Yokohoma 8th June
Hirosima 9th June
Fuokoka 10th June
Osaka 11th June

CHINA
Shanghai 11--12th June
Beijing 13--14th June
Xian 15th June
Chengdu 16--17th June
Hongkong 18--19--20th June

THAILAND
Chiang mai 20--21th June
Bangkok 22th June
Pattaya 23th June
Phuket 24-25-26-27-28th June

INDONESIA
Bali 28-29-30th June

Bali to Sydney: 1st July Reply to this

Now that I see your entire itinerary, I would amend my advice on your other Forum question:
1. We already discussed picking Shanghai or Hong Kong, but not both.
2. To save time in Thailand fly from Chiang Mai to Krabi or Phuket (cutting out Bangkok), transiting KL (cutting out Bali) to Sydney. Air Asia provides great fares for this route.

I am concerned that you are not allowing time for travel between cities. The number of days in each place is the bare minimum. You can't tour Osaka and Beijing on 11 June for example.

You have to make some cuts. For example, fares from Sydney to Bali are cheap so you might want to save that for another trip.

As for cutting out Bangkok, if you go there, you will need more than one day which means a day less on a beach. Your choice. But keep your itinerary in Thailand to one beach destination. And if you return to Nepal you can always stop in Bangkok on the way. Reply to this

Thanks Bob for your expert advise.

I will likely skip pattaya and maybe Bangkok and take flight from Chiang mai to Phuket.

With Japan also, I am fine as I have friend there who can advise my trip. Initially I wanted Osaka>Tokyo>Fuokoka>China, however I didnot get flight at good fares so I had to make journey back to osaka to catch the Osaka>Shanghai.

And, I am not Visiting Osaka on 11th,its just to catch the flight and reach Shanghai by night.

My only concern now is on China trip. I am not finding best travel mode there whether to take bus, train(which i think is best option) and budget air travel. Can anyone advise the best options for travel from Shanghai>Beijing, Beijing to sight seeing, Beijing to Xian/Chengdu and Chengdu to Hong kong?

CHINA
Shanghai > reach 11th Night--Visit 12th June> Start to Beijing early morning 13th
Beijing> 13th visit one destination maye great wall of china>--14th June>visit some other destinations>15th>start for Chengdu

Chengdu 16--17th June

Hongkong 18--19--20th June Reply to this

I used http://www.travelchinaguide.com/ to book flights and trains...or at least see the schedules. Overnight trains get you from city center to city center and save a night in a hotel. The soft sleepers are comfortable. We have also flown for the longer distances. Reply to this

As we said on your other thread, you have packed an awful lot into this route with little travel time and rest time after travelling. I would decide on one or two of Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai, not all three as you are not going to see much of any of them. In my opinion it's best to see one place well than to rush through three and see nothing of any but exhaust yourself with the travel. I
The distances within China are vast. You need to either fly or get an overnight train, but you might want to check out the link Bob has put on for whether they are available. You'll need a travel agent in China to book the tickets for you before you arrive to ensure you can actually make the journeys. Reply to this
