How do you get your Blog Title?

Does it take hours of thought? Is it there in the back of your mind? How do you get your Blog title?
10 years ago, October 6th 2013 No: 1 Msg: #175861
When I read other Blogs I tend to admire their titles, they always seem better and bolder than mine.
Sometimes my Blog titles just arrive in my thoughts, I quite like to use Song Titles (hoping people will connect to them and therefore read the Blog!). Quite often I seem to ponder for ages wanting to include key points of the Blog but it doesn't sound right and then occasionally I use a title, publish the Blog and think of twenty better ones!

I really should pay more attention to crafting the blog title, but it's usually left to the last minute before posting and ends up being rushed and unimaginative. 😊

I know people who write a blog title before they write the blog. I think I should start doing that too... Reply to this

Hi Jo and Ian and of course Woolly. I also admire the titles that other Bloggers use. They definitely sound much more interesting and eloquent than mine. In fact I admire the way most other bloggers write as they have such a way with words! Sometimes I find it quite difficult to come up with a catchy title, but if something really sticks out in the trip, I incorporate that into the title. I am also very concerned I might use a title that someone else has used - I am sure because of similar circumstances with so many bloggers visiting the same place that can easily happen!
I often wait till I have written the blog, then look for the title hiden somewhere in the text. Reply to this

I try to come up with a title that is descriptive, but intriguing enough to make me want to read it - even after I've written it.

My two favorite blog titles are "Guns and Moses," which I saw on a T-shirt in Tel Aviv and thought was a perfect way to sum up my experiences in Israel. I also rather like "Blade Runner Redux," about Hong Kong. That city just reminded me so much of the movie I kept looking for flying cars. Reply to this

In response to: Msg #175883 I have tried having the title before the blog but then something else happens or appears and it goes out the window Reply to this

In response to: Msg #175925 Awesome titles, I will have to start reading T Shirts although a lot of the ones I see tend to be rude! Reply to this

It depends. Sometimes I just have that "light bulb" moment when all of a sudden I come up with a good title. Most of the time, though, my mind's squeezed dry from trying to write the entry itself that I just think of two or three words that sum up the story. Reply to this

I agree with Jay... most of the time my brain is squeezed dry from having to write the blog in English and in Spanish... sometimes my titles work well in English but not in Spanish or the other way around.

Like you, Woolly, I also admire other people's imaginations and wordsmith-ship (that's not really a word, is it?) and always think they are much more creative that I am but... don't we all think that?... For the record, I think you are doing a very good job, considering you are a mammoth!! 😊 Reply to this
