I am planning a solo travel adventure... The first one of my life. Advice needed!
I am a 25 year old male currently living in Los Angeles. I have spent all of my life in the United States, with limited traveling experience.
I want to take a trip in early May, 2014, ideally around 10 days. I need advice on where I should go and what I should expect. Every destination is an option for me, with my current preferences being Asia, Europe, or South America. I would like to go somewhere where I can see nature, ancient history, and culture.
Any advice is greatly appreciated... Thanks!
Reply to this With only 10 days Asia and Europe are probably too far away, with too much to see and do in that time. But 10 days is enough time to provide you with the travel experience. I would suggest somewhere closer such as Mexico or Central America, which have plenty of nature, ancient history, and culture. You can start researching locations by clicking on the geography bar at the top of the page, then select a country. Recent blogs will be listed...start reading about others' adventures. I hope you have a great time and catch the travel bug.
Reply to this I think you can spent your 10 days in Europe, if you never have been here, you can choose from such countries: Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Portugal... They have numerous interesting and beautiful places to go. I think for the first time it would be great to visit Paris, Milan, Rome, Madrid etc. - amazing cities with amazing sights, ancient history and culture, like you want.
I reccomend you to travel by car, it's easy and may bring you very interesting impressions, I think. Rentalcars helps you to choose a car that you want in every country. There you can compare and choose the best! Also you can find more popular directions.
Any way you choose i wish you to have an exciting journey!

Reply to this Hi
Bob is right. Remember that if you only have 10 days, to get to Europe or Asia and back will take nearly 2 days out of that in travelling time.
Central and South America are much closer to you, and there is so much for you to see there.
Reply to this If you really have to go to Europe, a couple countries can be done in 10 days. We have visited Europe twice over Spring Break; once in the trip starting with the blog at
Spring Break in Europe - London, Cotswolds, and Kent, and another with the blog starting with the blog at
Rome Marathon. We also spent a week at the end of the Christmas Break starting with the blog at
New Years Vacation in London and Paris.
Winter isn't the best time to go as the daylight hours are short, and the weather is bad. So this gives you an idea of what is possible...but you need to know where you are going and what you want to see so as not to waste time being lost. Advance planning is essential. We were fortunate enough to have lived in Europe for 18 years, so we knew exactly where to go and what to see.
Reply to this for ancient history, Europe probably offers the most history. But for nature, culture, and experience, nothing beats South East Asia. It has a mix of everything.
Reply to this Where did you decide to go?
Love to hear about your trip.
