Looking to go over to the States from Australia with my partner for the first time, wanting to visit the following places within 5 weeks:

- NEW YORK (times square, statue of liberty, empire state building)

- LA (mainly want to visit all the theme parks and coachella)

- VEGAS

- NEW ORLEANS

- TEXAS

I have no idea where to start with accomodation, flights, spending money etc!!

How much money would i be looking at spending for flights accom, food and activities for this amount of time? and also an idea of how much spending money would be needed?

Any help is much appreciated!! Reply to this

Jessica,
Welcome to Travelblog, and the adventure of travel. Your itinerary is certainly doable for a five week trip, although it will likely be either expensive or time pressed. The United States is a big country and transport times can be quite long. The only quick method is flying, which gets pricy fast; hundreds of dollars per ticket. You may be able to buy multi-flight tickets before leaving home which can cut down the cost somewhat.
Theme parks have become really expensive; nearly $100/day. LA has four parks (Disneyland, Universal Hollywood, Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain) and some will require two days. I'd select one or two.
Coachella tickets are pricy, and sell out within minutes. Plan on a few hundred dollars each on the resale market (research this carefully before buying because resale prices vary dramatically)
As for the rest of the costs, it depends on how you like to travel. The absolute rock bottom budget is about $60/day, which requires staying in hostels, eating fast food, sticking to free activities, and taking buses everywhere. A more realistic budget is at least double that, and it can rise to almost any amount you care to spend 😞
What are you interested in doing beyond the festival?

I don't know if you guys still have plan for USA trip but as a personal experience I saved some money by using coupons for travelling, like for tickets and rent cars and stay as well. This link might help you guys <snip> All the best!
