This photo was taken on Chacaltaya Mountain, just outside La Paz, Bolivia and is of the ski-lift motor building that once serviced the glacier slope.

Chacaltaya was once a booming ski resort and touted as the world's highest lift-served ski area, that was until 2009 when the last remaining glacier disappeared. However, the area does still get a bit of snow in the rainy summer season, and apparently still popular with the locals.

The mountain is now a decent acclimatization hike, for anyone wanting to attempt the high peaks of the Cordillera Real. Reply to this
